Tsawwassen
was the last to develop of the three communities that make up the municipality
of Delta.
Initially,
it was largely forest, but the latter part of the 19th century brought
farmers and summer holidayers. For both groups the trees stood in their
way, and they eventually had the land cleared.
Not
until after World War Two did neighbourhoods of permanent residents
come into being, but even then the area was regarded as part of Ladner.
