GREETINGS!
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!!
Post-War Immigrants
“Polish Veterans Seek New Life
Three Polish Army veterans have been sent to Delta to begin their life
as new Canadians on farms here. Top officials of the Department of Labor
in Vancouver are watching the experiment closely.
In an interview with a representative of The Optimist recently they pointed
out that every care has been taken in the selection of the men. At the
same time they stressed the fact that if there is an obligation on the
part of the worker to do his part, there is also an obligation on the
part of the farmer to do his.
These men, if conditions do not prove suitable, may ask to be moved from
farms and under their contracts the Labor officials must move them. At
the same time while not speaking English they have been selected because
they were considered to have the qualifications to make first class Canadian
citizens.
They want a chance at our way of life and we think they should have it...”

A Website of Passenger Lists
“Findmypast.com, in association with The National Archives, is proud
to present ancestorsonboard, a new database featuring BT27 Outward Passenger
Lists for long-distance voyages leaving the British Isles from 1960 right
back to 1890. With ancestorsonboard, you can search for records of individuals
or groups of people leaving for destinations including Australia, Canada,
India, New Zealand, South Africa and USA featuring ports such as Boston,
Philadelphia and New York. Passengers include not only immigrants and
emigrants, but also businessmen, diplomats and tourists. Images of the
passenger lists are available to download, view, save and print.”
There is a fee, which I didn’t try to figure out, since it’s
in U K pounds and I don’t personally have a use for this information.
The website is at http://www.ancestorsonboard.com.
Thanks, Carol Ann.
