DRIVERS’ LICENSES IN B.C.
“DRIVERS’ LICENSES MUST BE OBTAINED BEFORE JUNE 1ST OF THIS
YEAR
Since new legislation has been passed making it necessary that every person
driving a car must have a license, which is to be renewed annually, Chief
Constable Scott Fenton announces that all licenses must be obtained before
June 1st, 1932.
These licenses are good until Dec. 31st, 1932, after which a new license
must be obtained for 1933.
The age limit for minors has been extended from 15 to 21, instead of 15
to 17, as it was in the past.”

“NEW DRIVERS’ LICENSES READY THIS WEEK
British Columbia motorists will be able to get their new compulsory drivers’
licenses at all license-issuing offices in the province Monday morning,
it was announced at the Legislative Buildings, Victoria, this week. These
licenses, costing $1.00 each, must be secured by the end of May. All drivers’
licenses issued prior to Jan. 1, 1932, expire on June 1. Those issued
since the first of this year will remain in force until Dec. 3.
Drivers are urged to get their licenses as soon as possible to prevent
congestion at issuing offices. Besides the offices of the motor vehicles
branch of the provincial police, government agencies and all police officers
are authorized to issue the new licenses.
Licenses may be obtained on the Delta from Chief Constable Scott Fenton
at the Municipal Hall, Ladner.
Police expect about 90,000 licenses will be issued this month and close
to 200,000 by the end of the year. Drivers’ licenses average a little
over two per car. The government thus will get a revenue of about $200,000
from this source.”
